We work on an appointment-only basis. If you need something urgently, call us on 020 8694 9869 and we’ll do our best to assist.
There’s parking space right in front of our showroom, on Lewisham Way itself.
Our specialties are burlesque, circus, fantastical creatures, 18th century, 1920s, jungle-inspired pieces. Although Prangsta looks are more often period-inspired than historically-accurate, we do cover the 18th and 19th century, 1920s, 70-80s. As for fantasy, we range from Narnia to Mid Summer Night’s Dreams, and will be delighted to cover anything in between.
Part of our range is suitable to teenagers, however we do not make or stock children-sized costumes.
Although we’re happy to dress you as Catwoman or Poison Ivy with a twist, we don’t copy-paste famous comics characters’ outfits, or stock their franchised version.
Largely speaking, anything that you see within our showroom can be hired! We have a range of props including small objects (binoculars, canes, toys), lavish thrones, giant bird cages, and a cornucopia of oddities.
If you’re looking for something specific, get in touch and we might be able to source it, too!
We currently have a selection of key pieces, featured in our lookbook here, as well as on our social media. We’re however working on cataloguing our entire collection as we speak, which you should be able to access and hire online.
At any given time, we’ll do our best to meet your requirements. If you’re looking for something which we don’t have in stock, we do offer a ‘Make to Hire’ service (subject to availability – please allow 2-3 weeks for an intricate, highly embellished piece).
Please refer to our ‘Made to Order’ section, where we extensively explain our process.
During your 1h fitting appointment, our personal stylists will assist you in the creation of a unique look. We use our existing stock to put together a look that matches your brief and body shape. If you have no idea what to wear, leave it to the expert hands of our stylists, who’ll be delighted to guide you!
Hiring a fully accessorised costume for a standard period (4 days, 3 during Halloween) costs £130-350+vat, price depending on how adorned you might want to be. We also offer a price per piece – small accessories starting at £15, statement headpieces ranging from £35-100+vat. There is also a £300 deposit on top which is refunded once the costumes have been returned. Our styling consultation costs £20 per person. If you require several costumes, we highly recommend mentioning it upon booking. Longer appointments are available, at a cost of £10 per extra hour.
We offer remote fittings, whereby we put a look together on a mannequin based on your brief and measurements, we will then send you photos of the look via email so you can provide feedback and change aspects of the look if need be. Because this process is often time-consuming, we do charge our usual consultation fee which is usually £20. Any additional full looks will cost an extra £20 each.
Our standard hire period is 4 days (3 days during Halloween). Longer hires are possible, at the cost of 20% of your hire per extra day.
Although we do allow for buffering time in between 2 hires, it is important to return your costume at the agreed date, so we get sufficient time to launder, steam, and restore wherever required. In the event where you’re being delayed by circumstances beyond your control, please do notify us as soon as possible, so we can make arrangements accordingly. Do note that, under these circumstances, any additional day will be charged at a rate of 10% of your agreed hire.
The number one rule is to avoid spraying perfume or aftershave directly onto the clothes – this can terribly damage aged fabrics.
After a long night spent dancing around and sweating in delicate fineries, we recommend allowing for the precious fabrics to air, on a hanger or laid on a flat surface.
Before packing the costumes in their original packaging, bear in mind how neatly you found the folded garments upon reception. Please use the wrapping paper, jewellery bags and bubble wrap where provided, be careful not to crush the delicate feathers.
Please refrain from attempting to wash costumes yourself, our garments are fragile and require specialist care. Our in-house wardrobe team are experts at dealing with the fiercest stains – shall your costume require specialist attention, a small fee will be deduced from your deposit, in proportion to the damage. We also use an ozone cabinet to clean our costumes on a regular basis, this method eliminates all forms of odours and scents that may linger around on pieces after use. If you would like more information on how this ozone cleaning technology works, feel free to visit the manufacturers website here: https://ozonedirect.co.uk/
Although our garments are very hard-wearing and made to last decades, damage can occur. The costs incurred by minor tears, late returns and stains are deducted from the security deposit. If the charges exceed the value of your deposit, the remaining amount will have to be paid for. If the item is damaged beyond repair or never returned, we will charge you for the full value of the item (do note that our premium garments are all one-of-a-kind and very expensive, please do not lose them).
Of course! We do offer a courier service within Greater London. Shipping to the rest of the country is possible too, we however need a minimum notice of 72h before the costume leaves our showroom.
Our costumes travel far and wide, and if you are not based in the UK, we’re more than happy to send them your way. Do note that insurance costs are added to each delivery, based on the value of the items we ship. The hire period is calculated from the day your order leaves our premises to the day it is returned to us.
A large part of our collection can be bought, prices are available upon request.
Some pieces are very special to us and we wish to keep them within our showrooms, pet them and restore them until death do us part; however, we might be happy to make a similar item to fit your own brief and requirements, if you ask nicely.
Why yes, we certainly do! We’re constantly on the hunt for discarded items to re-home and breathe new life into.
Absolutely! We can be pretty picky when it comes to the pieces that we buy, but if you possess dormant clothes which you feel might be up our street or present some upcycling potential, please do get in touch.
We do take interns and work experiences all year long. Send us your CV as well as a few pictures of your work and why you feel you’d be a good match to Prangsta to the following email:info@prangsta.co.uk
